This is what the N. Withlacoochee
River looked like in February of 2006, near Highway 145:

SUWANNEE RIVER |
ALAPAHA RIVER |
|
From the edge
of the Okefenokee Swamp to the Gulf of Mexico, this Florida State Canoe Trail
offers over 200 miles of true wilderness canoeing, with numerous springs,
rock cliffs, and white sand beaches. The
historic Suwannee River offers many excellent campsites for the overnighter! |
This
narrow and winding South Georgia State Canoe Trail offers more than 100 miles
of canoeing, with white sandy beaches, many campsites, and occasional rapids.
Call for
up-to-date river conditions, as water level can get quite low. Longer
trips can be arranged. |
|
NORTH WITHLACOOCHEE RIVER |
OVERNIGHTERS |
|
This can
be one of Georgia/Florida's most exciting rivers, with challenging rapids,
flowing past many springs and limestone bluffs which were pitted by swirling
currents of ages ago. Call for
up-to-date rivers conditions as this river is recommended for the experienced
canoeist certain times of the year. Longer trips can be arranged. |
The
charge to rent our canoes is $24.00 per calendar day. This includes:
canoe, 2 life jackets, and 2 paddles. Transportation
is additional. Overnight
trips may begin or end at any public access.
(See Shuttle Fees chart below.) |
|
GUIDED TRIPS |
MOONLIGHT TRIPS |
|
We
provide guided group river camping trips from October to April. Guided fishing and hiking trips are also
available. Guided
river camping trips are 3 to 5 days long.
Groups leave the Outpost on Monday or Tuesday morning and return on
Thursday or Friday, depending on your schedule. Were a complete
outfitting service, providing canoes, gear, guide, meals, and shuttle
service. We can
provide meals, fishing gear, and camping gear at extra charge, but you can
provide them if you wish. We
accommodate your group of 2 to 10 people (up to 5 canoes). Reservations
are required. Guided
trips include camping on beautiful, white sand beaches and crossing the Big Shoals
area, Florida's only white water! Call for more information and to make
reservations. |
Relax
and enjoy yourself as you canoe with old and new friends down the Suwannee
River by the light of the moon. Your
guide accompanies you on this 2-mile trip, ending at a campfire on a white
sand beach. Youre welcome to lounge
for a spell, so refreshments are recommended! We
now offer moonlight trips once per month, on the Saturday before the full
moon. Cost:
$19 per person or $29 per couple.
Third person $10. Reservations are
required by 3pm. |
|
SHUTTLE FEES |
|
|
|
Transportation charges listed below normally apply when
renting our canoes overnight or when we transport your canoe or
kayak. Shuttle riders with their own boats pay $5.00 per person in
addition to the shuttle fee. We also provide optional seat cushions ($1/day) or seat backs
($2/day). |
